Currently, we are seeking an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Engineer with an emphasis on Laser Safety in Redmond, WA.
The EHS Engineer role will primarily support the radiation and laser safety team through area assessments, evaluating equipment purchase requirements, reviewing R&D experiments, and performing various laser calculations and measurements. This role will ensure / establish appropriate area controls for employees working in and around lasers. In addition to supporting the laser program, this role also offers the opportunity to support multiple EHS programs, including lab safety, training, data collection / analysis, and audits. This role requires the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and work closely with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities :
- Assist hardware teams and EHS safety leads in reviewing facilities for radiation and laser safety compliance.
- Analyze safety hazards, and assist in creating requirement specifications for hardware potentially hazardous elements such as lasers, LEDs, x-ray, and CT machines.
- Assist in in developing corrective actions and communicating to stakeholders.
- Assist in developing methods for safety analysis using in-house equipment which reduce cost and improve turnaround time of testing and investigation.
- Perform testing to simulate faults and validate design and safety performance
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with all levels of staff.
- Adaptation and innovation when working with staff help them establish procedures to ensure compliance with requirements specified by Radiation and Laser Safety programs.
