Job Purpose
The Lead Cost Estimator coordinates with the Project Team & Contractors for the development of all Classified and Unclassified Cost Estimates and Estimate Confidence Packages. Monitors the Contractor's performance in cost estimating and control and provides advice as necessary to make certain the Company's objectives are achieved. This is a remote position based out of Hourston, TX.
Reporting & Interface
Reports to Head Estimator.
Direct reports : None.
Internal
Frequent interaction with Project Managers, department Managers for FEED Phase, EPC-1 (LiPF6), EPC-2 (142B) and EPC-3 (OSBL). Support Team Risk Management. Regular contact with functional support Services, Legal, Supply, and Finance departments.
External
Regular contact with FEED, EPC-1, EPC-2 and EPC-3, Contractors, their sub-contractors and vendors during the execution of the project.
Job Context
The position is dynamic and stressful, requires high commitments and discipline. Operates in a multi-cultural and multi-national environment which requires professional conduct. Understands the key project drivers, defines roles and responsibilities, develops communication protocols, identifies, develops, and implements project procedures planning and scheduling. Coordinates and facilitates all planning sessions and development of plans for Project teams.
The prime objective of planning is to improve project performance by anticipating issues, avoiding negative situations, and reducing the frequency of poor outcomes. Embedded robust planning management practices have been shown to contribute to the consistent delivery of successful projects.
Key Accountabilities :
- Prepares classified estimates at the FEED stage and EPC stage
- Supports the bidding process by development and preparation of cost estimates for capital projects and participates in negotiations with the bidders
- Understands WBS process for developing the Estimation Cost Breakdown Structure
- Develop measures and reporting system aligned with bench marking to achieve pacesetter levels
- Can execute take-offs from Civil, Structural, Piping and Electrical Single Line Drawings and applying appropriate rates to prepare cost estimates
- Prepares detailed Budget Estimates and updates thereof
- Subject Matter Expert on Cost Estimating. Assists Project Teams with the implementation and stewardship of Project Controls Documents and Systems
- Coordinates with Project Team for the development of all Classified and Unclassified Cost and Schedule Estimates and Estimate Confidence Packages.
- Prepares detailed Budget Estimates and updates thereof
- Capable of handling multi-estimation tasks simultaneously
- Proficient in writing all related procedures
- Promotes inter-departmental communications and encourages teamwork. Establishes clear communications between the PMTs and Contractor.
- Participates in gathering and recording lessons learned for the project.

The compensation for this position will typically range from $98,000 - 159,000 / yr. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge / skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.
The compensation package may also include short and long-term incentive compensation.
