Provides product stewardship, regulatory, and sustainability support and expertise to business units for complying with EH&S global regulatory requirements. The incumbent helps to advise the business units on issues of global compliance; ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements; and responds to inquiries from customers and regulatory authorities.
Position is responsible for adhering to all Company safety, health, and loss control policies and procedures. Participates in safety, health and loss control training so that at a minimum a general knowledge of applicable, OSHA, and state requirements is maintained.
The incumbent provides product stewardship, regulatory, sustainability and hazard communication (Safety Data Sheets, product labels, etc.) advice and expertise to obtain clear interpretations, and ensures compliance with U.S. and global regulations, laws, and associated procedures.
Determines applicability of rules, permits and requirements.
Make sound decisions to ensure regulatory compliance.
Duties
- Provide product stewardship support to all internal functions (e.g. Supply Chain, Operations, Customer Service, Research and Development, Marketing and Sales, Logistics and Others).
- Becomes proficient in IMDS activities, including customer support for automotive customers.
- Provide regulatory expertise and support for existing chemicals submissions.
- Monitors, interprets, and communicates regulatory issues that will impact product and business strategies.
- Assist EH&S colleagues and support activities as necessary in EH&S areas including Environmental.
- Ensures that all reporting is completed timely and accurately.
- Manages the collection of data, online / electronic databases, and files mandated for regulatory reports with applicable agencies and corporate office.
- Respond to distributor and customer product safety and regulatory compliance needs.
- Provide support for hazard communication documents (Safety Data Sheets, product labels, product confirmation forms) and new raw material EH&S signoffs.
- Be familiar with chemical regulations and be able to determine product regulatory status under these regulations. (GHS, TSCA, FDA, Canada CEPA, REACH and other global regulations, etc.)
Sustainability
Participate in corporate and business unit sustainability programs and activities, including meetings and reporting on monthly activities.
Assist in defining sustainability goals and track program metrics to assess program effectiveness.
Improve the effectiveness of the business's sustainability practices by monitoring best practices related to sustainability at benchmark institutions and make recommendations for new sustainability programming and modifications to existing programs.
Quality / ISO
Participation in plant level internal audits and conduct business level internal audits
Knowledge / Qualifications
Minimum : BS in Chemistry, Health, Safety and the Environment (HSE) or other related science discipline.
Desirable : Certifications in Product Stewardship, HSE, or regulatory compliance a plus.
At least 3 years Product stewardship, sustainability, and regulatory compliance
The position requires knowledge and understanding of global product regulatory requirements and international standards (GHS, TSCA, FDA, Canada CEPA, REACH, ISO, OSHA, and other global regulations, etc.) for the purchase, manufacture, distribution and sale of chemical products and compounds.
Knowledge and proficiency in using computers and software including SAP and MS Office. Broad knowledge of environmental regulations.
Ability to address on-call requests as needed.
PVC Compounding & Formulation Knowledge - preferred
Familiarity with SAP and manufacturing monitoring software like VantagePoint, SCADA, or WonderWare - preferre
