Under the direction of the Production Manager, the Training & Development Specialist will be responsible for leading and documenting all operational training needs of the site. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining training programs to enhance employee skills, improve productivity, and support company goals.
This will include developing and ensuring effective delivery of all training internally and through external vendors to ensure that legal and Orbia compliance is achieved and exceeded.
Position is responsible for adhering to all Company safety, health, and loss control policies and procedures. Participates in safety, health and loss control training so that at a minimum a general knowledge of applicable ISRS elements, OSHA, and state requirements is maintained.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate with a "safety first" mindset to ensure compliance with OSHA, ISO, and other regulatory standards.
- Assess training and development needs through surveys, interviews, focus groups, and collaboration with managers, instructors, and customer representatives.
- Conduct gap analyses of current training materials, methods, and effectiveness against legal, organizational, and industry standards, and develop plans to address identified gaps.
- Design, develop, and deliver onboarding, orientation, and skills training programs tailored to employees, customers, and external vendors.
- Develop unique training programs to address specific skill gaps, enhance job performance, and support organizational goals.
- Create and / or acquire training materials, including procedure manuals, guides, e-learning modules, and course content.
- Present training programs using various formats, including group discussions, lectures, simulations, and multimedia.
- Establish and maintain schedules and methodologies for re-training and re-evaluation based on operational needs.
- Develop objective, quantitative evaluation methods to measure trainees' success and overall program effectiveness.
- Evaluate external vendor training programs for employees as needed to ensure quality and alignment with company standards.
- Maintain accurate records of training activities, attendance, assessments, certifications, and retraining requirements.
- Assess training materials prepared by instructors to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, surveys, feedback, and performance metrics.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure training impact on operational and organizational goals.
- Implement continuous improvement plans to enhance training effectiveness based on KPI results and feedback.
- Research and recommend re-training and re-evaluation frequency and methodologies to ensure sustained competency.
- Stay informed of the latest trends and best practices in training and development.
- Partner with leadership to align training initiatives with business objectives and employee development plans.
- Prepare and manage the training budget, ensuring cost efficiency and maintaining detailed records of expenses.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Training and Development Expertise :
o Ability to design and implement effective training and development programs.
o Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods.
Project and Time Management :
o Project management skills to prioritize active projects, ensuring timely completion and customer satisfaction.
o Good organizational and time management skills.
Technical Skills :
o Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and related software.
o Strong attention to detail.
Problem-Solving and Decision-Making :
o Basic decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Physical and Workplace Requirements :
o Ability to work in both office and manufacturing / production environments.
o Activities may include sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 50 lbs, and computer work.
o Ability to address on-call requests as needed.
