About The Opportunity
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Define reliable test protocols for incoming materials/resins/products and material experimentation.
- Perform testing on various instrumentation including FTIR, DSC, TGA, Instron, injection molding, etc. Analyze and write accurate lab reports based on gathered data, including charts and pictures.
- Develop and implementation of new test methods for material characterization.
- Serve as technical liaison between ORBIS cross-functional teams and suppliers for joint development opportunities related to materials.
- Plan and carry out project responsibility with limited direction.
- Guide and support other lab personnel in lab, as needed.
- Provide technical guidance to engineering, manufacturing, and other internal/external customers, as needed.
- Engage employees in continuous quality process improvement activities.
Level Required: Bachelor’s degree in science-related field
Level Desired: Bachelor’s of Science degree in Chemistry
Required
Work Experience:
- 3 years of related lab experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, advanced level of Excel
- 3 years of related lab experience in previous employment
- Safety sensitive position - ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner
- Ability to work in and promote a culture of safety
- Ability to handle the stress of working with others
- Ability to be available outside of normal work hours
- Ability to assess employee performance and coach and develop others
- Ability to lead by example
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of roles – verbal and written
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency in chemical data analysis and assessment with the ability to explain the complex scientific issues to a non-technical audience
- Knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Office Suite
- 5-10% travel
