ORBIS is seeking a Linguist to join our team. You will be responsible for supporting a government agency and your office with translation, transcription, and/or interpretation services.

- Bachelor’s degree desired
- Preference given to higher clearances. However, all candidates with any level of clearance, including those with no clearance but who are deemed eligible, may be considered
- US Citizenship
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with interpretation between source and target language
- Experience translating into both English and target language
- Experience transcribing into English
- Ability to give/receive constructive feedback on translation reviews
- Ability to type no less than 45wpm in English and in the target language
- Must have cultural knowledge and be knowledgeable in current events for their area of expertise
- All candidates must pass the English test with a score of 80% or above
- All candidates must be able to pass required language testing
- Experience collecting information from published, online and broadcast media
- Experience monitoring published, online and broadcast media while identifying relevant content
- Experience summarizing/gisting while drawing upon linguistic or cultural expertise
- Translation Related Services (TRS)
- Experience Blogging while drawing upon linguistic/cultural expertise
- Subject Matter Expertise in areas of Counterterrorism, Cyber and Sponsor Operations
- Each linguist is expected to have expertise in a variety of topics ranging from technical to political; an understanding of a variety of dialects/jargon is a plus
- Preference will be given to candidates who are able to type in one of the required languages, and in real-time, via social media, text message, email, and other fora, and therefore should be familiar with current web-based communication technologies
- Preference will also be given to candidates whose skills allow them to engage in casual, informal written or verbal conversation with native speakers
