ORC is seeking a full-time, exempt Divisional Director to lead our business development efforts for federally funded transportation projects in North Carolina and South Carolina, building and nurturing strategic relationships with key clients, and developing strategies to expand our footprint in the state. This is a chance to shape the future of our company and your career. The selected candidate will reside within a 30-mile radius of Charlotte, NC and can expect to travel about 50% of the time based on project requirements.

What you will be doing:

  • Day-to-day project management:
    • Promoting and pursing new business development opportunities in Public Sector Right of Way
    • Client relationship management with key clients, vendors, and agencies
    • Develop written technical and cost proposals for projects
    • Represent ORC at local, regional, and national industry association events
    • Determine and implement strategic initiatives within territory aligning with company’s overall goals
    • Overseeing complicated right of way projects within territory which will span multiple states
    • Audit of budgets and financial requirements
    • Ensure projects are on schedule
  • Day-to-day management of personnel:
    • Oversee and provide support to staff
    • Performance management for direct reports
    • Support of recruiting efforts

Here are the minimum requirements:

  • Minimum of (6) years of experience in the Right of Way industry
    • Must include working with OR within a state's Department of Transportation
    • Must include two (2) years of managing projects
  • Experience utilizing the Uniform Relocation Act
  • Experience overseeing projects totaling a minimum of $5 million
  • Experience effectively managing direct reports
  • Prior experience managing budgets and preparing reports on project financials
  • Must be proficient with MS Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, Outlook, and Dropbox
  • Must have an iOS or Android smartphone to be able to access ORC's systems
  • Valid Driver’s License

Bonus Points if you have a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, prior sales, business development and/or proposal development experience

To avoid conflicts of interest, employees are prohibited from performing any services for clients or perceived clients during nonworking time that are normally performed by ORC, including the sale of real estate.

Physical Requirements: English language proficient. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to clearly communicate and exchange information in person, via phone and email. Substantial repetitive movements of the wrists, hands and/or fingers due to high amounts of computer usage and typing. Expected to spend long spans of time in front of a computer screen. Able to read, understand and interpret department related documents and data. Able to make quick decisions, present to staff and clients, have difficult conversations and supervise staff. The employee is required to move about inside the office to access files, office equipment and to interact with other members of the staff. This role requires the employee to travel regularly to meet with clients or vendors which involves time driving; sometimes for long durations. While meeting with clients and vendors, will need to be outdoors traversing different types of landscapes.
