Job Description
Orcas Power & Light Co-op is seeking a highly skilled Head Accountant to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing accurate financial and managerial accounting systems and procedures.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles and practices, with experience in managing financial systems and leading teams. You will work closely with our Manager of Finance to oversee the accurate recording of all receipts and expenditures, maintain internal financial controls, and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting documents.
You will also be responsible for supervising departmental staff, interacting with other departments, board members, outside auditors, and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration. In addition, you will assist with the management of cash flow requirements, coordinate short-term needs with long-term objectives, and review publications and audio-visual materials to stay current on industry developments.
