Summary / objective
Orchard Hospital maintains Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) licensure for clinical laboratory, cardiopulmonary laboratory and waived testing. The Laboratory Services Manager provides leadership, administration, oversight, and general management of the departments and services associated with CLIA Licensure – to include Clinical Laboratory and Cardiopulmonary Laboratory and Waived Testing (in partnership with nursing department and Rural Health Clinic), in a manner which supports and perpetuates the philosophy, purpose, goals and objectives of the Governing Board and the Administration of the Organization. 24 hours per day responsibility for departments assigned.
Pay : $57.22-$68.66
Essential functions
- Responsible for management of scheduling, hiring, selecting, and evaluating talent, accountability and disciplinary action as indicated in conjunction with Human Resources.
- Creation, revision, and implementation of policies and procedures required department meetings and educational support, and monitoring assigned laboratories for all licensure, accreditation, and compliance.
- Leadership of the ISTAT, Waived Testing, NOVA, and Point of Care Testing in conjunction with nursing services and Orchard Hospital Rural Health Clinic.
- Leadership of cardiopulmonary technicians, clinical laboratory scientists, phlebotomists,
- lab aides, and other ancillary staff of assigned departments.
- Providing orientation and annual education and competencies opportunities for all
- assigned staff, including appropriate documentation and record keeping.
- Review and maintain all proficiency testing, quality, safety, performance improvement, and
- preventative maintenance for assigned laboratories.
- Assure coding and billing compliance in conjunction with financial services department.
- Develop vendor relationships; evaluate new equipment, supplies, and reagents while maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
- Attend hospital meetings and conferences. Enforce hospital policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Administration of therapies as prescribed by a physician and according to the standard.
- procedure described in the Departmental Policy and Procedure Manual for Cardiopulmonary Services.
- Must know the proper method of transporting cylinders and proper storage techniques.
- Flexibility to work varied hours and shifts, on call or overtime coverage for emergencies
