Summary/objective
Medical Staff Coordinator provides administrative support to the medical staff by processing practitioner staff privileges, preparing reports and correspondence, scheduling meetings, preparing the appropriate Medical Staff meetings, maintaining credential files, and assisting the medical staff with on-call scheduling. Coordinates the credentialing and re-credentialing and quality processes related to areas assigned. Must respect and maintain a high level of confidentiality. Works closely with medical staff members, hospital administration, and department supervisors. Assist in coordinating the services through leadership and collaboration with colleagues throughout the organization. The incumbent consistently demonstrates the core values of Orchard Hospital and serves as a role model to other employees.
Essential functions
- Maintain open communication with the medical staff, administration, Directors, department supervisors and staff.
- Maintain knowledge of medical staff by laws, rules and regulations, and hospital policies.
- Processes all medical staff and allied health professional credentialing and re-credentialing applications in accordance with the medical staff.
- Assure all patients supporting information is available and prepared same for presentation to the appropriate medical staff committees.
- Coordinates with medical staff members to prepare the on-call schedule.
- Works with medical staff to ensure physicians proctoring is completed.
- Assists in guiding and directing management in the developing, delivery, promotion and financial aspects of department products and services.
- Participates in the maintenance of a sound plan or organization, establishing policies associated with medical staff assigned duties and quality development, ensure survey preparedness is a daily activity and works to provide for capable management succession.
- Assist in interpreting standards of patient care as promulgated by the California Department of Public Health, Licensing and Certification division, and other regulatory and advisory agencies.
- Develops and installs procedures and controls to promote communication and adequate information flow inter and intra departmentally.
- Helps oversee the analysis, maintenance, and communication of records required by law or local governing bodies, or other departments in the organization.

Required education and experience
- Must possess as a minimum, a high school diploma with at least 5 years applicable work experience.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Health Care Administration or related field.
- Keyboard, data entry, computer experience and ability to operate office equipment.
