Registration Tech

The professional Registration Tech greets all patients in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner.  Arranges for the efficient and orderly registration of outpatients. Ensures that accurate patient information is collected.  Ensures that all incoming telephone calls are promptly and courteously answered and routed to the correct extension within the hospital.  Participates in the upfront collection process of co-pays and deductibles.

Pay: $21.00 - $25.20

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma / GED.

• Computer experience preferred.

• Must possess current driver’s license.

Job Requirements:

1. Greets arriving patients as they enter the lobby/waiting room area; treating all customers, whether patient, visitor, or hospital staff with respect, genuine caring concern and with a desire to assist.
2. Responsible for obtaining all patients vital personal information as well as demographic information and billing information for each visit.  Responsible for obtaining patient signature on face sheet, verifying correct demographic and insurance information upon patient arrival as appropriate. Respects patient’s rights of privacy and confidentiality with patient information and care.
3. Verify Insurance eligibility for each visit; requesting co=payment as appropriate for each visit.
4. Responsible for answering all incoming calls as appropriate; responsible for ensuring patients are spoken to at least every 15 minutes while waiting, providing updates as appropriate.
5. Responsible for various clerical procedures such as controlling the cash; ordering supplies; balancing petty cash between shifts and maintaining appropriate documentation if indicated for location or shift.
6. Responsible for pre-registering patients with scheduled appointments for the following business day as appropriate for location or shift.
7. Performs any other duties assigned by the department supervisor or director which falls within the scope of duties to ensure a smooth work flow.
8. Demonstrates sustained proficiency with applicable Organization Wide Health Information Systems such as Evident, T System ED, Laboratory or Radiology Information Systems, Billing and Eligibility and Registration Information Systems as appropriate, Relias, Organization Policies and Procedures.
9. Demonstrates effective communication with members of the healthcare team to achieve desired outcomes; attends and participates in all required education, in-service, mandatory training and staff meetings per policy.
