Role Description

This is a full-time Insurance Billing Specialist hybrid role (Occasional travel to our office in Rockville, MD) however remote candidates will be considered. This position will be responsible for reviewing and processing insurance claims, working with insurance companies to resolve issues, and maintaining accurate billing records. The Insurance Billing Specialist will report directly to the Billing Lead and Practice Administrator, ensuring seamless coordination and adherence to best billing practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and process insurance claims to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Follow up with insurance companies on unpaid, denied or underpaid claims, working to resolve issues in a timely manner
• Verify insurance benefits and eligibility for clients
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure accurate patient information and documentation
• Communicate with clients regarding billing inquiries, payment plans, and outstanding balances.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in insurance billing or accounts receivable, preferably in a healthcare setting (previous behavioral health experience a plus!)
• Knowledge of insurance codes, billing procedures, and claims processing.
• Experience with billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
• Communication and Customer Service skills
• Attention to detail and organization
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
