GRADE 3/4 CLASS TEACHER (full-time)

3rd/4th Grade Teacher

Orchard Valley Waldorf School is seeking a 3rd/4th grade teacher for the 25/26 school year. This person will hold a Grade ¾ Class Teacher position in an ongoing manner as part of a new combined class model. The 25/26 school year is our inaugural year in this model, and the 3rd/4th grade teacher will be instrumental in developing a collaborative, dynamic holding of our grade school program with three other class teachers.

Our ideal candidate will be an experienced, passionate, Grade School educator who has prior experience working with a combined class and ideally with 3rd and 4th graders. Actively working out of a deep understanding of child development, as indicated by Rudolf Steiner, is an expectation of this position, as are strong classroom management skills, the capacity to teach rigorous developmentally appropriate academics, and an affinity for working with children on the land.

Orchard Valley Waldorf School Faculty are warm, collaborative and curious about the world around them. We provide education and care for children from infancy through Grade 8 and currently have 120 students in our programs, which include three Infant-3 year old classrooms, two Pre-K classrooms, one Kindergarten, and fixed combined Grades classes: ½, ¾, ⅚, and ⅞.

Orchard Valley Waldorf School is an AWSNA Associate member and WECAN member school. Our birth through PreK programs are Vermont DCF Child Development Division Center Based Child Care Programs. Orchard Valley Waldorf School is an Approved Independent School and Pre Qualified Preschool program by the Vermont Agency of Education.

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Waldorf Teaching Certification and at minimum, 12 months of Waldorf classroom teaching experience OR commensurate experience and willingness to begin Waldorf Training upon hire
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to establish positive relationships with parents and caregivers and offer parent education on an ongoing basis.
• Experience using Google Suite and willingness to learn educational software as is relevant to the job
• Experience teaching Roadmap to Literacy, Waldorf Language Arts Curriculum is strongly desired
• The position involves working in and out of doors. Must be able to sit, stand, squat, reach, bend, lift up to 40 pounds, and walk over uneven terrain. Must be able to work outside for long periods of time in changing weather conditions; i.e., rain, snow, wind and/or cold.
• Desire and expectation to be working in relationship to the land
• Active engagement in the work of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

This is a full-time salaried position. Benefits include paid holidays, wellness stipend and tuition remission. The salary range for this position is: $40,892 - $47,868.
