Description:
The Summer School Instructional Assistant provides crucial support to teachers and students in an elementary summer school setting. This role assists in implementing actively supervising students, following lesson plans, reinforcing learning concepts, and maintaining a positive and engaging classroom environment. Responsibilities include working with small groups or individual students, preparing instructional materials, supervising students during activities, and providing general classroom support. The Instructional Assistant collaborates with the teacher to ensure students' academic and behavioral needs are met, fostering a successful summer learning experience. They also assist with maintaining a safe and organized classroom and may perform clerical duties as assigned.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
- Assist the teacher in implementing lessons and activities
- Work with small groups or individual students
- Actively supervise students both indoors and outdoors
- Prepare and organize materials
- Assist with behavior management and the social-emotional needs of students
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students
- Maintain confidentiality
- Communicate clearly and effectively with staff and students
- Maintain a professional and supportive attitude and relationship
- Support students on field trips and other special programming occurring during summer school
Qualifications
- Prior experience preferred
- Multilingual applicants preferred
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Terms of Employment

- Professional development and room set up week of June 23rd
- Summer school calendar June 30th - August 7th Summer School Hours are 7:30-3:30 Monday - Thursday (Shift 1 Option: 7:30-1:30, Shift 2 Option: 9:30-3:30)
- School clean-up August 8th
Rate of Pay: $20 per hour
