PRIMARY PURPOSE :

Component planning and monitoring is recognized as the core responsibility of the Infant-Toddler Education Coordinator.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Reason position exists is to perform these functions) :

Component Oversight and Monitoring

  • Develop, implement and monitor Education Services Component Work Plans for infants and toddlers to meet Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS), other funding requirements, and best practices.
  • Ensure that all enrolled infants and toddlers receive quality early childhood education services based on HSPPS and state childcare licensing rule and that services are culturally responsive, support bilingualism and bi-literacy, as appropriate.
  • Ensure that all enrolled pregnant people receive quality internal services and referrals based on HSPPS and that services are culturally responsive.
  • Work with SCHS Director and Management team to develop, implement, and monitor annual budgets related to education services for infants and toddlers.
  • In coordination with the Child & Education Services Coordinator, establish and update infant / toddler School Readiness Goals and Objectives, with parent, staff and community engagement and input.
  • Ensure EHS staff are trained in Education services requirements and program policies / procedures.
  • Provide program data and reports to inform program improvement, meet funding requirements, and for annual Community and Self-Assessment processes.

Supervision

  • Provide daily oversight and supervision of assigned staff.
  • Conduct goal setting, monthly reflective supervision and performance evaluations for assigned staff.
  • Support identified training and coaching needs of assigned staff.
  • Perform or delegate the duties of assigned staff in their absence, as needed.
  • Oversee the hiring and dismissal of staff in assigned area.
  • Community Engagement

  • Coordinate with local agencies providing services to expectant families to establish and maintain interagency referral processes.
  • Ensure program representation on local Home Visiting advisory groups.
  • Recruit and convene Education Advisory Committee bi-annually, including parents and other stakeholders.
  • Represent and promote South Coast Head Start by serving on appropriate committees, boards, and councils and attending community meetings, as assigned / approved by supervisor.

  • EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS :

  • BA / BS in ECE or related field required (MS preferred)
  • Three years’ experience in administration of related program
  • Experience working with special needs children / low-income families preferred
  • Infant & Toddler CLASS certification, HOV-RS certification, and Growing Great Kids curriculum Tier 1 and Tier 2 training preferred, or ability to obtain within six months.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT :

  • Geographic Area : Coos and Curry Counties
  • May lift items up to 51 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Access to indoor office, in a climate-controlled environment; may not have access to sunlight. Regular activities outside in a non-climate controlled environment.
  • Regular kneeling, bending, stooping and sitting on the floor.
  • Regular walking and standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • Occasional events outside of the office at irregular hours will be required.
  • Attendance at off-site staff training events will be required.
  • Driving to home visits will be required if a function of the position.
  • OTHER :

  • Reliable method of getting to work.
  • Must be free from illegal drugs, may be subject to suspicion testing.
  • Must be enrolled in the Oregon Department of Education-Child Care Division Central Background Registry at time of hire and update it as required.
  • Pediatric First Aid / CPR Certification within 30 days of hire and update it as required.
  • Oregon Food Handler’s card or ServSafe® Food Safety Certification within 30 days of hire and update it as required.
  • Health Appraisal within 30 days of hire and update it as required.
  • Must be able to pass the State of Oregon Criminal Background Check.
  • A current Oregon Driver’s License is required.
  • Proof of automobile liability insurance @ $100,000 / 300,000 liability limits and maintain such limits.
