About You :

Job Summary and Responsibilities :

The Director of Human Resources (DHR), in collaboration with the Chief People Officer (CPO), directs the development and implementation of OCF's Human Resources initiatives and people-related services, policies, procedures, and programs, including providing consultation to managers and employees on human resource-related issues. This role involves overseeing the full spectrum of HR functions, including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, training and development, compensation, benefits, and compliance. The DHR will collaborate with the CPO to align HR strategies with the company's business objectives and ensure a positive, productive, and engaging work environment. The DHR supervises a team of HR professionals to deliver on the Foundation's human resources goals and initiatives and to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to employment practices. This is a strategic yet hands on, tactically focused position.

Human Resources Leadership (55%)

  • Leads planning, development, and implementation of OCF's people-related services, policies, and programs, ensuring alignment with OCF's organizational values and priorities.
  • Oversees the development of and manages the Human Resources Department budget.
  • Responsible for the preparation and annual updates to OCF's Employee Handbook on policies and procedures. Provides high-quality administration for various human resources programs and procedures for all foundation personnel.
  • Ensures compliance with all HR related federal, state, and local legal requirements and remains current with new legislation, mitigating organizational risk.
  • Oversees the strategic recruitment and development of a diverse, talented team of professionals. Works with the Senior HR Coordinator to ensure effective onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Implements and annually updates compensation program; conducts research to determine appropriate salary levels; analyzes compensation and pay equity; working closely with consultant to revise as needed and maintain records of pay decisions.
  • Manages the performance evaluation program and ensures alignment with compensation program.
  • Provides appropriate employee relations guidance to managers and employees, navigating and resolving situations that include a wide array of complexities. Investigates and addresses concerns regarding prohibited discrimination and harassment.
  • Works with broker and carriers, and in collaboration with the CPO and CFOO, ensures optimal benefit design and offerings while managing costs. Oversees benefits administration and sourcing, including claims resolution as necessary.
  • Supervisory and Management Responsibilities (20%)

  • Provides leadership and guidance to the Human Resources Team, fostering a collaborative team spirit.
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new team members.
  • Serves as a mentor and coach, supporting individuals' professional development and growth.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance feedback.
  • Oversees daily operations within the team, working with team members to set work priorities and supporting their success.
  • Compliance (10%)

  • Oversees preparation of annual Affordable Care Act (ACA) IRS Forms 1095C and 1094C.
  • Manages workers' compensation for OCF, to include claims and annual OR OSHA reporting.
  • Oversees and works closely with the Senior HR Coordinator on the administration of state and federal leave programs.
  • Ensures HRIS database and software modules meet OCF's needs and are effectively utilized by managers and employees.
  • Oversees HR record retention and maintain organization's compliance with all federal and state employment regulations.
  • Provides periodic staff training and orientation regarding HR matters; presents policy and program information.
  • Talent Development and Training (10%)

  • Oversees the development and implementation of a comprehensive employee training and development program designed to support employees at every level of the organization in realizing their full potential.
  • Culture and Staff Engagement (5%)

  • Guides efforts of the staff Culture Squad to strengthen and reinforce a culture that embraces OCF's organizational values.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements HR best practices to promote the organization's culture.
  • Qualifications :

    Education and Experience :

  • Eight or more years' progressively responsible experience leading Human Resources initiatives in an organization with a minimum of 100 employees. Philanthropic or nonprofit experience a plus. Experience leading human resources efforts across multiple offices a plus.
  • Five years' experience managing teams, including direct staff supervision.
  • Budget development and management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, or related field or equivalent experience. Active SHRM-SCP or SPHR professional designation.

  • Travel is not required for performance of job duties but may travel to attend workshops, conferences.
  • Working Conditions and Safety :

  • Comfortable office environment.
  • Physical effort includes frequent use of computer monitor and mouse, with repetitive typing, and occasionally lifting up to 15 lbs., prolonged sitting or standing.
  • Report all injuries, illnesses, or accidents to your supervisor as soon as possible and within 24 hours.
  • Remote Work :

    This position will have the opportunity to work remotely on Fridays when doing so aligns with the responsibilities of the position. During the initial training period, this position may work more frequently in the office.

    Compensation and Benefits :

  • Hiring Range : $145,000 to $180,000, depending on experience.
  • Salary offers are determined in conjunction with an internal pay equity assessment. This initial hiring range reflects our starting offer based on your skills and experience.
