The Oregon Department of Corrections has a Supply Specialist 2 opening at the Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem, Oregon. This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified candidates and may be used to fill multiple/future vacancies.

This position is represented by the Association of Oregon Corrections Employees (AOCE) labor union. This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.

About The Job – Your Role

As the Supply Specialist 2, you will participate in the receipt, storage, security, shipment, inventory, and recordkeeping for a wide variety of property, equipment, food, forms, and supplies. You will prepare, process, and maintain documents for the requisition, purchase, receipt, stocking inventory, issuance, and delivery of goods.

You will receive supplies and equipment requests; review and approve for completeness; verify authority of person or agency placing order. Procure a wide variety of supplies, food, forms, materials, and equipment to pre-established monetary limits or delegated purchasing authority; use a state credit card, the requisition and purchase order processes, statewide contracts, or informal bid process.

You may direct Adult in Custody workers to follow rules, policies, procedures, and security guidelines; instruct and train on work techniques and procedures, and in the safe and efficient operations of tools and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

Your application materials will be reviewed to verify that you have:

  • Three (3) years of stocking, storeroom, or warehouse experience which included purchasing a variety of supplies, or materials; maintaining inventory records, and shopping for and receiving of materials.

Requested Skills

  • Monitoring, completing, and analyzing accurate inventory and stores records
  • Excellent customer service and detailed oriented
  • Projecting inventory requirements and determining space requirements for storage
  • Purchasing, receiving, maintaining, and inventorying supplies
  • Supervision and direction of work
  • Performing journey level warehouse/commissary tasks, responsibilities, and decision-making
  • Reading and applying purchasing procedures, guidelines, and price agreements
  • Reviewing documents such as purchase orders and bids for accuracy
  • Ability to interact and oversee Adult’s in Custody (AICs)
  • Managing transactions and returned items

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with Automated Financial Accounting Manufacturing Inventory System (AFAMIS)
  • Experience working in a correctional setting

  • Valid driver’s license

The salary range listed above is for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range to reflect an additional 6.95%.

About The Process – What To Expect

After the application deadline, a recruiter will review submissions for education and experience to identify candidates who best fit the minimum qualifications and requested skills. Top candidates will be referred to the hiring manager. The hiring manager will review your application and schedule interviews. An interview will be held with a panel of stakeholders who have completed panel assessment training. Scores will be determined based on predetermined questions and scoring guides. Preferences points will be applied in compliance with relevant laws and bargaining agreements. There may be multiple rounds of interviews. Final candidates will have a background check, PREA check, and reference checks. Requirements For Employment

The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, there may be some felony convictions that could disqualify you for this position. However, having a felony record does not exclusively restrict you from being considered as an applicant. CJIS clearance is done at the conditional job offer.
