We are seeking a Child Welfare Supervisor 2 to join our Prineville Child Welfare team.

Summary Of Duties

You will serve in a leadership role working within the Child Welfare Program, and have an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Oregon’s most vulnerable children and families. Your dedication will help us achieve the Child Welfare Vision for Transformation that will support children and young adults to be safer, healthier, experience less trauma and achieve a greater well-being.

As a Child Welfare Supervisor 2, You Will

  • Oversee staff members who directly serve children and families, ensuring that our mission is carried out with excellence.
  • Play a crucial role in providing training, guidance, and support to ensure that our programs meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and permanency for children.
  • Be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with community partners, children, and families, while also making critical decisions about the services provided to our clients.
  • Lead personnel actions such as hiring, performance appraisals, and disciplinary actions, while also providing ongoing coaching and support to your team.

Minimum Qualifications

A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required for this position.

  • A bachelor’s degree in human services or a field related to human services and
  • two years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related human services experience.

OR

  • A bachelor’s degree unrelated to human services and
  • completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency and
  • two years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience in human services.

OR

  • An associate degree and
  • three years of human services related experience.
  • two years (of the 3 years’ experience) must have included lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience.

OR

  • An associate degree and
  • completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency and
  • two years lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience in human services.

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Identifying and implementing child welfare policy, procedure, and processes, including experience with the Child Welfare Vision for Transformation and the Oregon Safety Model.
  • Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with community partners and individuals, with a commitment to anti-racism work and equitable practices.
  • Applying a trauma-informed approach to decision-making, problem-solving, and providing recommendations related to child safety and placement.
  • Managing high-pressure, fast-paced work environments while maintaining composure and providing reassurance to staff.
  • Data analysis to inform practice improvements.
  • Adapting communication styles for diverse audiences and conveying information clearly and precisely in both verbal and written forms.
  • Being dedicated to the professional growth and development of others, including providing feedback, coaching, and clear explanations of decisions.

Working Conditions

  • Occasional travel around the district is required. Occasional travel outside the district may be required for trainings or other enrichment activities.
  • Employee will work a professional work week where the hours of work fluctuate on a daily and weekly basis to meet service needs.
  • Travel within the state for meetings and conferences may be required.
  • You may interact with a wide range of people including some who have experienced trauma and exhibit challenges in controlling their emotions.
  • Employee will work a professional work week. Occasional, non-traditional hours may be required.
  • Employee will be on a rotating on-call schedule (about one week every 2-3 Months). The rotating on-call schedule will include evening or weekend work. This schedule is sent out in advance so employees can plan accordingly.
