Minimum Qualifications
Three years of public contact/customer service experience which involved dealing with the public in-person or by phone providing information about services and programs. At least one year of this experience must involve explaining and interpreting rules, programs and procedures and explaining requirements and gaining compliance.
AND
Experience or training using computers to retrieve and input data.
AND
Three months experience collecting money and making change.
Completion of an associate’s degree will substitute for one year of the public contact experience.
Special qualifications: Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.

A Day In The Life
- Assist customers with vehicle registration and titling. Interpret and apply applicable laws, rules and policies.
- Review applications and supporting documents required for issuing identification cards, licenses and permits.
- Produce photo licenses, instruction permits and identification cards.
- Administer, correct and explain driver license law tests and vision tests.
- Conduct behind-the-wheel drive tests on standard and commercial vehicles in all weather conditions.
- Serve as the primary contact for escalated or complicated transactions.
- Account for documents and fees collected. Maintain accurate count of inventory.
- Perform physical examinations of vehicles in all weather conditions. May require bending, climbing or crawling around cars, trucks, motorcycles and commercial vehicles.
- Work is primarily performed in a public-facing office with extensive customer interaction and computer use.
- Travel by state vehicle to other offices in the region is required in all weather conditions. In cases where a state vehicle is not available, a personal vehicle may be used to conduct business.
