Bring your customer service skills to the Coos Bay DMV as a bilingual transportation services representative. In this role, you will assist the public with obtaining a driver license, registering vehicles and issuing permits and license plates. In addition, you will administer knowledge, skill and vision tests to potential drivers, ensure correct fees are collected, provide information about regulations and policies and administer behind-the-wheel drive tests. Minimum Qualifications
Two years of public contact/customer service experience which involved dealing with the public in person or by phone providing information about services/programs or explaining and/or applying rules, regulations and procedures;
AND
Experience or training using computers to retrieve and input data;
AND
Three months experience collecting money and making change.
Completion of an associate’s degree will substitute for one year of the public contact experience.
Special Qualifications
Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.

A Day In The Life
- Help the public register vehicles and apply for permits.
- Provide exceptional customer service while following privacy laws.
- Communicate clearly with customers from diverse backgrounds to accurately answer complex questions in a way that is easily understood.
- Produce photo licenses, instruction permits and identification cards.
- Administer, correct and explain driver license tests.
- Conduct and interpret results of driver vision tests.
- Perform physical examinations of vehicles and verify vehicle identification numbers.
- Prepare daily bank deposits and count inventory.
- Occasionally perform relief work in other DMV offices within the region.
- May require standing for extended periods of time, working in inclement weather, working an irregular schedule and lifting up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to type at least 30 words per minute with a high level of accuracy. A typing assessment will be conducted at the time of interview for selected candidates.
