The
Oregon Health Authority (OHA), Public Health Division (PHD), Center for Health Statistics
section in Portland, Oregon, has a career opportunity for an Amendments Specialist.This is a full-time, limited duration, classified position and is represented by a union, SEIU Human Services.
Limited Duration: This is a limited-duration appointment that is expected to last up to 17 months. Limited-duration positions are benefit-eligible and have a designated length of service. OHA retains the right to end the limited-duration assignment at any time; however, there is a possibility that the position may become permanent.
What will you do?
As an Amendments Specialist, you will be responsible for reviewing and processing requests for amending vital records. This role involves providing information regarding relevant policies and procedures, as well as interpreting Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS) and administrative rules through in-person, phone, and written communication. Additionally, you will provide support to other staff members in delivering amendment services.

- Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents.
OR - An associate degree in any field.
OR - An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Attributes:
- Experience in reviewing, learning, and explaining complex procedures, rules, and laws.
- Experience in analyzing and reviewing applications and documents to ensure compliance with specific requirements.
- Experience in data collection, database creation, report generation, correspondence management, and form development.
- Experience in using Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience in written and verbal communication with a diverse range of stakeholders, including customers, government agencies, data providers, and county partners.
- Experience working under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment.
- Experience creating, promoting, welcoming, and maintaining a culturally competent and diverse work environment.
Working Conditions:
**On-Site Parking Notice** Please be advised that there is no complimentary on-site parking available for employees at the Portland State Office Building. However, there are multiple paid parking options in the vicinity of the building.
The work of the Center is mission critical. Due to the nature of the duties for this position, 100% of the work is conducted on-site at the Portland State Office Building, located at 800 NE Oregon Street, Portland, OR 97232, five days a week during standard office hours for the first 6 months working in the position. Remote work, no more than three days per work week, may be considered after working in the position for 6 months and if remote work meets business operations. Work location can be changed at any time at the discretion of the hiring manager.

- The salary listed is at the non-PERS rate. Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) eligible employees will have their base salary increased by 6.95% and pay the 6% employee contribution to PERS. If you are not yet PERS eligible, the 6.95% pay increase and employee contribution will be effective upon PERS eligibility.
