Initial Posting Date: 10/25/2023 Application Deadline: 12/31/2023 Agency: Oregon Health Authority Salary Range: $6,645.00 - $10,217.00 Position Type: Employee Position Title: Clinical Psychologist-Forensic Evaluator-Oregon State Hospital-Salem, Oregon Job Description: The Oregon State Hospital (OSH) Forensic Evaluation Services (FES) team is seeking a Clinical Psychologist, skilled in forensic evaluation. OSH is dedicated to inspiring hope, promoting safety and supporting healing for patients entrusted to our care. What you will do! The Forensic Evaluation Service (FES) operates within the Oregon State Hospital, a Joint Commission-accredited and CMS certified public psychiatric hospital. The hospital's mission is to provide psychiatric hospital and residential treatment services to persons committed by the Oregon courts, as part of the state mental health service system. Prepares reports for courts throughout Oregon based on Oregon Statutes; provides expert testimony in Oregon Courts. The Clinical Psychologist is familiar with Oregon Statutes relevant to forensic evaluations. The Clinical Psychologist also provides consultation regarding agency staff, staff from community and other State agencies, district attorneys, defense attorneys and the courts and will develop, oversee, and present professional education seminars within the hospital. The Clinical Psychologist in FES works collaboratively with other psychologists at the Oregon State Hospital and will participate in peer review in the Psychology Department. *This position may also include supervising psychology residents, interns, and students. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS AND CONSULTATION As appropriate, attends clinical management meetings to consult on clinical and service delivery issues. Completes psychological evaluations utilizing assessment techniques that address personality, intellectual, and cognitive impairments, as well as risk and malingering assessments within the limits of the psychologist's expertise and privileging or under the supervision of an OSH privileged neuropsychologist or forensic psychologist. Performs risk assessments of patients as requested and directed by an Associate Chief of Psychology. Completes evaluations within specified deadlines. Completes and documents psychological evaluations that include baseline psychological testing according to the Psychology Department policy manual. Performs job duties within MAHPS privileging specifications. Provides in-service training to treatment staff as assigned by an Associate Chief of Psychology. TREATMENT SERVICES Provides individualized treatment services as needed across OSH based on an Associate Chief of Psychology's direction. Documents all consultation or direct services provided in the patient's medical record per Medical Records and Psychology Department policies. Meets with patients to implement treatments consistent with the treatment care plan, monitor progress or regression, and assist in making necessary treatment care plan changes. Provides individual and group psychotherapy across OSH as assigned by an Associate Chief of Psychology. FUNCTIONS AS A MEMBER OF THE PSYCHOLOGY DEPARTMENT Follows APA ethical standards, standards for providers of clinical and psychological services, procedures in OSH Psychology Department manual, and OSH policies and procedures. Participates in continuing education to maintain professional competence, Oregon psychologist licensure, and to provide in-service training. You may be assigned supervision of others. Attends mandatory department meetings, hospital trainings and review of policies per designated timelines and serves on departmental committees as assigned by an Associate Chief of Psychology. Other duties as assigned. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR NOTE - The goal of this recruitment is to fill this position at the Clinical Psychologist 2 level. However, we encourage candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for a Clinical Psychologist 1 to apply, as we may consider under-filling this position until the selected candidate meets the minimum qualifications for a Clinical Psychologist 2. Clinical Psychologist 1 candidates have 24 months from date of appointment to become licensed as a Clinical Psychologist by the Oregon Board of Psychologist Examiners. Clinical Psychologist 2 ($6,645.00 - $10,217.00 per month): A doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from an APA accredited university AND completion of a one-year internship in Clinical Psychology. Applicants must be licensed as a Clinical Psychologist by the Oregon Board of Psychologist Examiners at the time of appointment. UNDERFILL OPTION Clinical Psychologist 1 ($6,043.00 - $9,289.00 per month): A doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from an APA accredited university AND completion of a one-year internship in Clinical Psychology. You must be eligible for licensure as a Psychologist in Oregon. *NOTE* - Applications will be considered if they have met all degree requirements with the exception of completion of their one-year internship. They must be slated to complete their one-year internship in Clinical Psychology prior to their anticipated start date to be considered." REQUESTED SKILLS: Four years post-Master's Degree experience, and license in Oregon as a Psychologist. Obtaining and maintaining MAHPS privileging per specified deadlines. Experience in advancing health equity, addressing systemic health disparities and collaborating with diverse, vulnerable and underrepresented populations.
