Summary:
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the maintenance team to ensure the efficient and safe operation of all equipment and machinery in the facility. This role ensures that the team adheres to scheduled maintenance, safety standards, and operational goals. The Maintenance Supervisor plays a key role in supporting the Maintenance Manager by leading the team, ensuring effective communication, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership and Supervision:
- Supervise the daily activities of the maintenance team, ensuring that work is completed on time and to the required standards.
- Provide guidance and support to maintenance technicians, offering technical expertise and troubleshooting assistance as needed.
- Ensure that team members follow safety protocols and adhere to company policies at all times.
- Foster a culture of accountability, responsibility, and teamwork within the maintenance department.
- Assist in the development and training of maintenance technicians to improve skill sets and operational efficiency.
Maintenance Scheduling and Prioritization:
- Support the Maintenance Manager in the scheduling of preventive maintenance (PM) activities, work orders, and any unplanned repairs.
- Prioritize maintenance tasks based on production needs, equipment criticality, and downtime risk.
- Coordinate and assign daily tasks to maintenance technicians, ensuring timely execution of PMs, repairs, and upgrades.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are tracked accurately, and all work orders are completed in a timely manner.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all maintenance activities are performed following safety guidelines and company policies.
- Monitor compliance with safety programs, including lockout/tagout, confined space entry, and PSM/PHA.
- Lead safety audits, identify hazards, and work with the team to develop and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Assist in accident investigations and root cause analysis to prevent future incidents.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Communicate effectively with the Maintenance Manager, operations, and other departments to ensure alignment on production schedules and maintenance needs.
- Serve as the point of contact between the maintenance team and other departments for equipment-related issues.
- Provide regular status updates on ongoing maintenance activities, including any issues or delays, to the Maintenance Manager and relevant stakeholders
Continuous Improvement:
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing practices and the implementation of Six Sigma principles, to improve equipment reliability and performance.
- Encourage maintenance technicians to actively participate in problem-solving and process improvement efforts.
- Ensure that the team’s activities are aligned with operational goals and the overall continuous improvement strategy.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Ensure that all maintenance records, work orders, and safety documentation are properly maintained and updated.
- Assist with reporting on maintenance performance, including downtime analysis, KPIs, and equipment reliability metrics.
- Review and analyze maintenance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Other Duties:
- Assist the Maintenance Manager with coordinating vendor relationships and outside contractor services as needed.
- Perform hands-on maintenance work when required, especially for complex repairs or urgent issues.
- Act as a backup for the Maintenance Manager in their absence, ensuring the smooth operation of the maintenance department.
- Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required; technical certifications or associate degree in a related field is a plus.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in a maintenance role, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Familiarity with electronic Preventive Maintenance and Inventory Management systems (e.g., MP2, SAP) is preferred.
- Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma methodologies, and continuous improvement processes is desirable.

- Ability to tolerate cold environments (cooler and warehouse).
Special Requirements:
- On-call availability 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays and weekends, as needed.
