Summary:
The Lab Supervisor ensures the smooth operation of the QA Lab, overseeing food safety and quality programs to ensure that processed products meet high standards. This position involves managing day-to-day QA operations, leading the QA team, and ensuring compliance with food safety and quality regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and schedule daily QA Lab operations.
- Support Preventive Control program and maintain daily quality and food safety documentation.
- Respond to customer complaints and manage product hold programs.
- Monitor and manage environmental programs, corrective actions, and trend analysis.
- Audit quality procedures, train employees, and ensure food safety compliance.
- Assist in internal and third-party food safety audits.
- Interact with government agencies (FDA, USDA, etc.) as needed.
- Analyze data, manage non-conforming products, and minimize losses.
- Lead and supervise lab technicians, providing feedback and coaching.
- Maintain inventory, research data for projects, and coordinate material purchases.
- Assist with food safety and quality training programs.
Coverage: The Food Safety and Quality Manager is trained to cover for the Lab Supervisor as needed.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in food science or a related field.
- 2 years of quality systems management in food manufacturing.
- Strong skills in data analysis, Excel, Power BI, or food safety software.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in dairy or frozen dessert production.
- Knowledge of SQF, FSMA, and relevant food manufacturing regulations.
- Certifications like PCQI, HACCP, and SQF Practitioner.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting: Extended periods of time (a minimum of 4 hours)
- Standing: Extended periods of time (a minimum of 4 hours)

- Twisting of Spine: Occasionally
- Lifting: Light (less than 30 lbs.) frequently
- Carrying: Light (30-50 lbs.) infrequently distance – 100 ft
- Able to tolerate cold environments (Cooler and Freezer warehouses)
