Position Summary
The Machining Operator/Research Assistant supports manufacturing research at our world-class facility and will further develop skills in machine tool programming, operation, inspection, related lab equipment, and safety while working with industry members, university staff, faculty, and students. The successful candidate will be technically competent in areas of CNC machine operation and maintenance and have a unique opportunity to develop research skills, as well as assist with demonstrations, seminars and other education events.
This posting is for two new full-time entry level research assistant positions at the OMIC campus in Scappoose, Oregon. Recent community college graduates are encouraged to apply.

Minimum Requirements
- Associates Degree in Applied Science, Machine Tool Technology or similar. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
- Two years or more of manual machine and CNC operating experience.
- Experience with basic MDI at CNC machine controller.
- Proven ability to maintain shop/lab cleanliness and safety standards.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull over 50 pounds.
- GD&T and blueprint reading experience with the ability to take precision measurements using industry standard measuring tools and read CMM data.
- Ability to effectively and respectfully work, communicate, and collaborate in diverse, multicultural, and inclusive settings.
- Experience with Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhein or Okuma controllers.
- CAD/CAM experience.
- Works well with others in a collaborative setting.
- Willing to demonstrate a sense of calm and inspire confidence in others and remain positive in a high-pressure environment.
- Courage to ask questions that need to be asked and to freely contribute ideas as well as openly consider the ideas of others even when they may disagree with your own.
