What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Financial Services position at Oregon Mutual Insurance?
Oregon Mutual Insurance Group is seeking a highly talented finance leader to direct the corporate Financial Services Division. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Financial Services will serve as the corporate controller and be responsible for all corporate financial and statistical reporting as well as the corporate accounting functions. This includes leadership over the premium, statutory, and reinsurance accounting processes, the secure handling of corporate financial assets, financial regulatory compliance, and billing and collection of premiums and fees.
For this strategic role, we are seeking a thought leader who has excellent mentoring and people development skills in addition to the technical knowledge required to serve effectively in the controller function. Our ideal candidate would be an independent thinker who is committed to continual process improvement as well as our ethical business practices. This candidate will interact regularly with other external and internal stakeholders, including divisional leaders throughout the organization such as Actuary, General Counsel, Product, Underwriting, and Claims.

Qualifications / Experience Desired
- Bachelor's or master's degree in finance, accounting, or business administration, plus 10 years related experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the required skills.
- 5 years of experience working in property and casualty insurance and knowledge of statutory accounting principles.
- 2 years of experience with reinsurance accounting
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of and experience with statutory accounting principles, taxation, and audit procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and database software products
