Oregon Mutual Insurance Group is seeking a highly talented Reinsurance Accountant/Assistant Controller to join our Financial Services Division. Reporting directly to the Director, Financial Services, the Assistant Controller will be responsible for assisting with all corporate financial and statistical reporting as well as the corporate accounting functions. This includes premium, statutory, and reinsurance accounting processes, the secure handling of corporate financial assets, financial regulatory compliance, and billing and collection of premiums and fees.

Qualifications/Experience Desired
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, accounting, or business administration, plus a minimum 6 years related experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the required skills.
- 3 years of experience working in property and casualty insurance and knowledge of statutory accounting principles.
- 2 years of experience with reinsurance accounting
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of and experience with statutory accounting principles, taxation, and audit procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and database software products
Key Responsibilities
- Follow and update procedures and controls relative to the accounting and reporting of all company financial activities.
- Preparation of internal and external financial statements and reports, regulatory filings, and tax filings.
- Ensure adherence to corporate standards, accounting principles, actuarial standards and applicable laws and regulations.
- Ensure accurate financial records are maintained and available as needed.
- Assist in compilation of annual corporate budget and production of budget reports and cost accounting reports.
- Assist in analyzing reinsurance agreements and implement procedures and controls to produce accurate accounting of ceded and assumed premiums, losses, and commissions.
- Assist in the management of the company’s relationships with its reinsurers, independent auditors and state auditors.
- Ensure professional relations with external service providers.
- Assist in managing the company’s relationships with credit card service providers, and maintain professional relations with banks, investment funds, and other financial service providers; monitoring performance and recommending changes, as appropriate.
- Assist with the company’s collection of delinquent accounts using internal resources and external services.
- Assist with the payment of company disbursements, collection of receivables and the placement of company directed investments.
- Maintain appropriate controls and safeguards for corporate financial assets.
- Analyze and interpret financial information and company activities to ensure consistency with corporate objectives.
- Assist with determining when funds are available for long term investment and assist with developing internal cash flow projection models.
- Assist with company tax planning and filings
