Essential Job Functions
This is a working Supervisor position that performs Medical Assistant (MA) functions and serves in a supervisory capacity. As the MA Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in fostering collaboration between the MA and provider teams, ensuring seamless, high-quality patient experiences. Working closely with the Clinic Manager, you'll guide and oversee the daily operations of the MA team at Oak Street. This position offers the opportunity to make a real impact through close teamwork with both providers and onsite staff.
Leadership (>50% of time)
- Provide day-to-day supervision to the MA team at Oak Street
- Provides oversight to all MA processes assisting with policies/procedures scheduling, daily operations
- Make personnel recommendations for Clinic Manager approval regarding hiring, discipline, termination, and development of laboratory staff
- Evaluate processes to make sure MA staff are accurately prepared and trained to ensure processes and regulatory guidelines are followed
- Schedule staff and ensure appropriate staffing coverage for all sites; adjust schedules as needed when employees are out on vacation or out sick.
- Assist in the maintenance, development and management of department policies and procedures.
- Monitor the workflow to track the timeliness of completion and efficiency of all tasks.
- Train, Mentor, coach, and develop all MA staff
Medical Assistant (<50% of time)
- Record patient’s medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examination, keeping the rooms neat, clean and stocked
- Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight and height
- Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the Physician
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by the Physician
- Give medically appropriate instructions to patients under the direction of a Physician or Advanced Practice Provider (APP)
- Ensure all related patient information is in electronic record prior to appointment
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Registered Medical Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant certificate
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong computer skills, including the ability to work with medical software
- Experience with office medical procedures and treatments
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory or preparatory (i.e. Lead) supervisory role
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual-Spanish
- Oncology or outpatient clinic ideal
