Job Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist provides proactive insight, guidance, and support to managers and employees. The HR Generalist performs full cycle recruiting and onboarding, administers benefits programs and leaves; supports, maintains specialized and internal HR systems. Partners with managers on employee relations, and provides guidance to Managers on issues of employee performance, development, and performance improvement. Ensures HR regulatory compliance, reports and enforces company policies and practices to all levels of staff. The HR Generalist strives for innovative ways to improve the efficiency and best practices of daily administration and overall operations of the Human Resources function within the organization, makes data-driven decisions, and serves as a trusted business advisor to all levels of employees.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provides counsel and support to Managers on issues of Company/HR policy application, HR needs and provides HR services to employees.
- Administers benefits programs such as medical, dental and life/ad&d/disability insurance, 401k, leave of absences and employee assistance; processes related employee documents with benefits providers and reconciles and processes related monthly invoices to service providers.
- Provides input to benefits business partners on benefits plans, reviews, distributes benefits plan summary materials, required notices and communicates changes in benefit plans to employees during annual benefits open enrollment and other times, as needed.
- Monitors employee data quality, primary focus is providing support and data reports to end users. Works closely with other subject matter experts to ensure data integrity, report writing and analyzing data flow for process improvement opportunities. Generates various data reports for compliance, internal/external audits and others, to support the needs of the business. Serves as the point person for trouble-shooting, resolving end user issues and system disruptions, as well as coordinating system enhancements and supporting training of new users.
- Manages full cycle recruitment; planning and execution of activities and events to fill all open positions, in collaboration with Hiring Manager. Creates onboarding plans and orients new employees to HR policies, internal procedures and regulations. Recommends strategies to attract and retain employees.
- Ensures employees follow all policies and procedures. Recommends changes in policies and procedures based on employee, company and external environmental factors.
- Promotes HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace. Nurtures a positive work environment.
- Works with Managers to resolve employee relations issues. Investigates, counsels and assists in resolving disputes, employee performance, development, or corrective action plans.
- May assist in investigating complaints brought forward by employees. Recommends appropriate disciplinary action for employees who violate rules and regulations and addresses employee grievances.
- Stays current with compliance of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended HR best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. Assists in development and implementation of human resource policies.
- Assist with internal and external HR-related matters, in partnership with HR VP.
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of HR functional areas, including state and federal laws, regulations and application of HR policy, employee relations, conflict resolution, recruitment, leaves and benefits programs, HRIS, HR compliance and special assignments/projects.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Management or Human Resources management or related field; or combination of relevant work experience and education.
- Three years or more of HR professional experience.
- Understanding of and demonstrated experience with state and federal laws, regulations and application of HR policy, employee relations, conflict resolution, recruitment, general employee communications, employee benefits plans including health, life, disability, 401k plans and programs, HRIS systems, employee recognition programs, employment practices and training, performance management and personnel policies.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Pay: $32 – $36 per hour/DOE
