WANTED – Executive Director
COMPANY DESCRIPTION: The Oregon Small Woodlands Association (OSWA) is on a mission to be an effective force in addressing statewide issues that are critical to family forestland owners by:
- Educating and informing the owners of forest properties and the public regarding family forest management issues.
- Providing a medium for the exchange of ideas about family forestland by landowners, the public, agencies, consultants, and timber industry personnel.
- Serving as a forum to make recommendations for investigating and solving problems and improving forest management, harvesting, and marketing.
- Representing the owners of family forestlands to the general public and before legislative bodies and regulatory agencies.
OSWA has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Executive Director to lead their organization!
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Executive Director reports directly to the OSWA Executive Committee and is responsible for fulfilling the values of the organization: Stewardship∙_ Advocacy Fellowship _ Education (SAFE).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage all business operations, including the assets of the 501(c)(5) non-profit corporation
- Provide leadership to chapters, members, and volunteers while promoting our values and mission
- Identify and implement opportunities to increase membership and volunteers through our statewide chapters
- Develop annual budgets and implement strategies to fund and promote the organization
- Coordinate development and implementation of OSWA’s legislative agenda and lobbying efforts
- Represent OSWA on multiple state-level committees, boards, and commissions related to private forest management, regulation, and taxation
- Prepare and present testimony on behalf of OSWA and its members before the state legislature
- Grow partnerships with other organizations and groups
- Supervise front office staff
- Other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Your resume must reflect the following qualifications to be considered for this position:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Five (5) years of experience in a similar position or leadership role
- Five (5) years of financial management experience, including developing, monitoring, and budgeting
- Advanced proficiency utilizing MS Office 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher
- Proven oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated a high level of self-accountability in a fast-paced environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Background in forestry and natural resource management
- Public or private professional writing experience (letters, reports, etc.)
- Public speaking experience
SALARY / BENEFITS: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00/yr, DOE/ benefits package
