Position Summary

This recruitment will be used to fill multiple part time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Student Support Services (Athletics Tutor) positions for the Academics for Student Athletes (ASA) department at Oregon State University (OSU).

Through several learning services, Academics for Student Athletes provides academic and personal support to student athletes at Oregon State University (OSU). Tutoring students in specific courses and communicating with Academics for Student Athletes (ASA) staff about student progress are the two coequal purposes of this position.

The university has an institution-wide commitment to diversity, multiculturalism and community. We actively engage in recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce and student body that include members of historically underrepresented groups. We strive to build and sustain a welcoming and supportive campus environment. OSU provides outstanding leadership opportunities for people interested in promoting and enhancing diversity, nurturing creativity and building community.

Anticipated hourly rate : $15.15

Position Duties

  • Tutor students in both context areas and academic skills (time management, note taking, organization, etc.). This requires differentiating instruction / assistance to match the strengths of the student.
  • Keep your availability (day / time and course) up to date on our online scheduling system and document all sessions thoroughly using ASA's online documentation system.
  • Attend mandatory training at the beginning of each term and as offered throughout the term. Tutors also need to take initiative to communicate directly, as situations warrant, with ASA Counselors.
