Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill multiple part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Ambassador positions for the College of Liberal Arts at Oregon State University (OSU).
College of Liberal Arts Student Services Ambassadors are often the first contact many current and prospective students have with the college. Ambassadors represent the college during recruiting events and open houses; present information about the college to visiting prospective students; assist current students in the office of CLA Students Services and Career Services by scheduling advising appointments, answering questions over email and phones, and directing students to appropriate campus resources.
Successful candidates should enjoy working with and helping people; have strong customer service skills; have a wide range of OSU experiences and have the willingness to share these experiences with prospective students.
Position Duties
CLA Ambassadors will :
Work in the College of Liberal Arts Student Services and Career Services offices, where they will :
- Demonstrate strong customer services abilities by greeting and assisting students both in person and by telephone in scheduling advising appointments and directing them to appropriate campus resources
- Professionally respond to email correspondence from current and prospective students along with other OSU faculty and staff
- Adhere to FERPA confidentiality standards in working with student information and insight
- Maintain a clean and organized front desk area along with daily mild cleaning of Bexell 214
- Manage the slideshow advertising events held through CLA
- Collaborate in a team environment with other Ambassadors, and other professional staff
- Use OSU Teams platform to communicate with students through messaging and through the "virtual lobby" along with OSU staff and colleagues
- Provide public presentations in-person and virtually
- Present using PowerPoint a daily 30-minute presentation for tours programmed by the Office of Admissions for prospective students, parents and guests
- Provide presentations for the Career Services office on resume, cover letters, job search strategies, and other career-related topics to students

High School student : Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
Additional Required Qualifications
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
Ability to work some evenings and weekends
Ability to work indoors but work occasional outside tours and events
Ability to work in a noisy environment with potential distractions
Ability to work from home using OSU programs for phone calls and email communications.
Ability to work with potentially upset and stressed students and parents
