Job Summary

This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Warehouse Worker : Shipping & Receiving position for the Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine at Oregon State University ( OSU ).

The College of Veterinary Medicine ( CVM ) provides professional and graduate programs for veterinary students, leading to DVM , MS, and PhD degrees, operates a Large and Small Animal Teaching Hospital, and State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories. The College operates within a total budget (from all sources) approximating $16 million annually, which supports educational programs, veterinary medical and diagnostic public services, and research programs which have broad impacts as related to animal and human health. The College employs approximately 145 faculty and staff, plus student workers.

The purpose of this position is to support Academic, Research and Hospital programs in the shipping and receiving of freight, parcels and other materials and equipment that are shipped via common carrier to and from the College and provides delivery services of U.S. and campus mail between CVM departments and buildings as directed.

What You Will Need

Must possess general knowledge of warehouse operations and materials handling.

Ability to maintain computerized and / or written logs, and resolve vendor disputes.

Must possess organizational skills and work ethic to work without close supervision.

Demonstrated ability to engage respectfully and professionally with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.

Demonstrated ability to contribute to an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming workplace environment for individuals with a range of different backgrounds, identities, perspectives, and / or life experiences.

This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard : 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

The employee in this position will often be required to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing between 5 to 300 pounds.

The employee in this position will be required to walk in various weather conditions to deliver packages between Magruder Hall and other buildings.
