Position Summary
The OMIC R&D Facilities Associate serves as either primary or secondary liaison with the building owner, property manager, machine vendors and contractors, and will assist the OMIC Facilities Manager in all aspects of facility upkeep, maintenance, improvement, safety and security, grounds, and equipment at the Scappoose campus.
The successful candidate will provide direct support to the OMIC Facilities Manager and other employees at OMIC to maintain day to day operations. The candidate will have strong customer service skills, ability to build rapport with diverse internal and external customers, a willingness to learn, and the ability to balance competing demands under tight timelines. The position is considered essential personnel and may be required to respond to campus emergencies, including inclement weather or other hazardous conditions.
Minimum Requirements
Additional Requirements
- Associate’s degree in relevant field OR equivalent combination of education and experience adding up to two (2) years.
- Two (2) years or more of full-time experience in facilities operations and maintenance, including contractor/vendor supervision, project coordination, training coordination and safety standards.
- Technical expertise and experience in at least two of the following areas: mechanical and electrical systems, HVAC systems and controls, general building maintenance, general construction, custodial products and their use, environmental support, Lean 5S principles, IT support, OSHA safety standards.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with varying deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative while contributing to a team environment.
- Ability to effectively and respectfully work, communicate, and collaborate in diverse, multicultural, and inclusive settings.
- Ability to respond to after hours emergencies. Such work is expected to be very occasional.
- Ability to lift and carry over 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical expertise and experience in at least four of the following areas: mechanical and electrical systems, HVAC systems and controls, general building maintenance, general construction, custodial products and their use, environmental support, Lean 5S principles, IT support, OSHA safety standards.
- Proficient in use of technology, including programs and applications unique to facilities management.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with close attention to detail.
- Commitment to the vision of OMIC R&D.
