Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor

Position: We are currently recruiting for a full time Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) at the COPES (Community Outreach Prevention and Engagement Services) Outpatient Clinic in Pendleton, OR. The CADC will provide direct services to individuals with substance use disorders engaged in treatment including individual and group counseling. OWhN aims to provide low-barrier entry for all individuals and families that need assistance with behavioral health and primary care, whatever those circumstances are to support recovery on the full continuum: harm reduction to abstinence. The pay range we’re offering will be dependent on the experience and education/training of the successful candidate.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Possess a certification through MHACBO or equivalent national certification; or register within 30 days of hire and must obtain certification within two years of hire as outlined in OAR 309-019-0125
- Two plus years of formal training or experience in counseling – preferred
- Understanding of addiction and dynamics of recovery
- Understanding of Recovery Model and Motivational Interviewing
- Familiar with strategies for the delivery of trauma informed care and culturally responsive treatment services
- Familiar with de-escalation techniques
- Adhere to the Oregon Administrative Rules, agency’s policies and procedures, HIPAA, 42 CFR, Part 2 Federal Confidentiality Statues and MHACBO certification and professional code of ethics
- Demonstrated experience with electronic health record system – preferred
- Must pass a reference and criminal background check
- Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening test
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Complete client screening, assessment, treatment plans and referrals
- Provide individual, group, family, and other counseling techniques for addicted or substance abusing clients
- Provide culturally relevant prevention education for clients, family, and community
- Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary treatment team, modeling integrated treatment skills and utilizing Evidence-based practices in work with clients in individual and group settings
- Follow policies and procedures of a medically assisted treatment (MAT) program
- Demonstrated communication skills, both verbal and written
- Observe UA’s (urinalysis)
- Ability to maintain documentation in accordance with established program procedures to maintain compliance with all legal and professional requirements in a timely manner.
- Familiarity with community support systems, health care and human services resources, court and police activities, etc. to help facilitate services and services coordination for referrals to support groups/self-help groups, substance use treatment, primary care services, mental health, public health and/or other community resources

Schedule: Monday-Thursday: 9-hour days; Fridays: 4-hour days
Pay: $20.50-$23.50 – pay to be dependent on the experience and education/training of the successful candidate.
