The Organization: Oregon Washington health Network (OWhN) is a growing non-profit agency based in Pendleton, Oregon, but with services provided in four counties in NE Oregon and SE Washington. The Position: We are currently looking to fill a full time Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) / Peer Support Specialist (PSS) position based out of La Grande, OR. The funding for this position offers mentoring support to individuals as someone who has similar life experiences and acts as a role model of a person in recovery within Union County. The CRM/PSS draws on their own personal lived experiences to motivate and assist identified clients to act on their own behalf and to support their own self-directed recovery path. Work within a multi-disciplinary team, in accordance with each client’s individualized treatment plan, to assist individuals in accessing resources, addressing barriers related to their substance use and/or mental health, developing perspective and skills that promote recovery. This work occurs both in the office and a variety of community settings to include home settings, emergency departments, and jails. OWhN aims to provide low-barrier entry for all individuals and families that need assistance with behavioral health, whatever those circumstances are to support recovery on the full continuum: harm reduction to abstinence. The pay range we’re offering will be dependent on the experience and education/training of the successful candidate.
The available position is grant funded and will continue as long as funding is available.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Certification as a Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) or Peer Support Specialist (PSS) preferred/or the ability to attain certification within six months of hire.
- Experience with computers, software and office equipment; Microsoft Office, printers, scanners, telephones, etc.
- Demonstrated communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Maintains documentation in accordance with established program procedures to maintain compliance with all legal and professional requirements in a timely manner.
- Experience with electronic health records ~ preferred
- Mentors are required to comply with Oregon Administrative Rules, OWhN Policy and Procedures, HIPAA, 42 CFR, Part 2 Federal Confidentiality Statues and MHACBO certification and ethical standards.
- Meet regularly with Peer Supervisor to review job activities, expectations, client progress and concerns.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain insurance requirements to operate agency vehicles.
- Must pass a reference and criminal background check.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening test.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Engage clients who present to emergency departments, physician offices, jail or any environment where clients or potential clients may present
- Model acceptable, prosocial behavior for clients
- Attend recovery related meetings with clients as assigned during business hours
- Transport clients to recovery activities
- Act as a community resource, assisting in connecting individuals and families to local groups and organizations where, through participation, they will develop natural supports that will sustain them in the future
- Facilitate classes and groups as assigned
- Attend agency meetings, as required

Pay: $18.55 - $22.34 per hour
