Job Title: Training and Development Manager
Pay & FSLA Status: Competitive Compensation, D.O.E.; Salary exempt
Regular Schedule & Shift: Monday - Friday, Day shift
Regular Weekly Hours: Full-time/40 hours per week (overtime as needed)
Paid Time Off (PTO): 80 hours accrued year 1; 120 hours accrued annually after year 1
Paid Sick Time: 40 hours annually

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources, the Training and Development Manager is responsible for actively developing, managing, and monitoring company-wide training programs including, but not limited to: training courses, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and training materials for new hires and tenured employees. This position identifies company-wide developmental needs to drive training initiatives and arranges suitable training solutions to support company objectives and priorities. This position ensures alignment with strategic business objectives and maintains high quality standards in instructional design and development for all methods of program delivery.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish and implement the training department’s vision and objectives to align with company goals, including a timeline of training content and programs to be developed and assigned annually.
  • Responsible for leveraging LMS and other course authoring tools to design, implement, and facilitate training, including instructor-led virtual training, eLearning, and instruction content/videos.
  • Oversee and conduct regular assessments to identify training needs and performance gaps. Collaborate with branch and department leaders to identify training needs and skills gaps and lead the creation of comprehensive training programs tailored to each department across the company.
  • Responsible for continued development and management of onboarding programs for new employees in all positions and ongoing professional development for existing staff (Leadership Development Program (LDP) and Program for Optimizing Potential (POP)).
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, performance metrics, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Responsible for maintaining detailed and organized records of training activities and outcomes for the workforce. Ensure compliance training records are kept up to date and current. Oversee the recurrence of required training programs to ensure compliance with local city, state, and federal laws and regulations (OSHA, Cal OSHA, EEOC, DOL, etc.).
  • Manage all third-party contracts for external learning content. Ensure competitive and up-to-date content is available in company LMS.
  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and new technologies in training and development. Responsible for regularly updating training content to reflect current information, industry trends, product offerings, processes, and company policies.
  • Act as a coach and mentor to employees to support their career development goals. Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the organization.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Ability to travel 3-5 days per quarter.
  • Excellent presentation and written and verbal communication skills. Ability to speak effectively in front of groups of people consisting of customers, employees, and/or members of leadership.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, experience with authoring tools and development and creation of training content.
  • Knowledge and experience with oversight and maintenance of LMS.
  • Great organization skills with an eye for detail and the ability to make decisions that are in line with OrePac standards.
  • Demonstrated capability to develop strong interpersonal working relationships. Ability to perform as a team player and interact with all levels of management and support personnel.
  • Ability to analyze data to measure learning outcomes and program effectiveness.
  • Effective coaching, management, and employee development skills.
  • Creative with the ability to bring new ideas while balancing the need to listen to stakeholders.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field or 3-5 years of experience in a training and development, education, or similar role.
  • Any combination of education, training, or experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position will be accepted in place of the education and/or experience requirements listed for this role.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Regularly required to see, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, the ability to adjust focus, and peripheral vision.
  • Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • This position operates in a professional office environment.
  • This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.
  • The work environment is generally quiet.
  • This position travels 3-5 days per quarter.
