Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Care Worker to provide essential support to individuals in residential settings, including nursing homes and assisted living facilities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting residents with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being while respecting their rights and dignity. This role is crucial in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities and other needs.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Monitor patients’ health status and report any changes to the nursing staff.
- Administer medications as prescribed and ensure adherence to care plans.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment for residents.
- Uphold resident rights by promoting independence and dignity in all interactions.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement individualized care plans.
- Support residents in social activities and encourage participation in community events.
- Document care provided and maintain accurate records as required.
Skills
- Strong understanding of resident rights and the ability to advocate for them effectively.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Ability to perform patient monitoring with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols and care plan implementation.
- Proficient in cooking nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with residents, families, and team members.
- A caring attitude coupled with patience and empathy towards residents' needs.
