Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff SECURITY SPECIALIST
Location : Pentagon, Virginia
Summary : This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent serves as a Security Specialist in the Joint Staff J6, Pentagon Military Secretariat (MILSEC) office providing security and facility management in support of the Joint Staff (JS), Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Cyber Directorate (J6). Provides program management assistance, office travel, and government travel card.
Responsibilities : As a SECURITY SPECIALIST at the GS-0080-11 / 12, some of your typical work assignments may include :
- Analyze security Standard Operations Procedures and recommend protection systems and devices to ensure sensitive information, equipment, and materials are not compromised, sabotaged, stolen, misused, or subjected to terrorist or malicious acts.
- Apply policy direction to specific operating requirements and develop guidance for applying security policy, procedures, techniques, equipment, and methods to various work situations and security controls.
- Assist the Director and Deputy Directors with resolving complex and difficult security issues.
- Provide advice and assist in updating security regulations, operation procedures, and security awareness literature.
- Serve as facilities coordinator, responsible for coordinating, controlling, and implementing security aspects of the organization's facilities program.
- Coordinate with management officials, Joint Staff Facilities, Washington Headquarters, Building Managers Office, and safety personnel to ensure proper industrial safeguards are in place.
- Serve as Assistant Organizational Defense Travel Administrator and inform the Personnel Director of problems before submitting travel authorization for approval.
