Position Summary
The Solutions Architect will play a lead role in the delivery of an agency-wide metadata governance solution with a strong emphasis on geospatial data within national intelligence. This role requires onsite work in a classified environment, supporting the deployment of software across C2S networks.
What we are looking for :
The ideal candidate will have experience with enterprise search technologies—preferably Apache Solr / Lucene, though experience with other platforms (e.g., Elasticsearch) is also acceptable—and geospatial workflows. As the bridge between internal development team, onsite system integrators, and government stakeholders, the Solutions Architect will ensure the solution’s successful implementation and delivery.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead technical deployments in a fast-paced, high-impact environment, collaborating with analysts, developers, and senior managers to deliver innovative solutions.
Responsibilities
- Work onsite at NGA’s Springfield, VA facility, supporting classified deployments of software on C2S networks.
- Lead the implementation of a geospatial metadata registry, ensuring effective use of Apache Solr / Lucene or other enterprise search technologies as the search backbone.
- Provide expertise in optimizing search performance, query design, and geospatial indexing within Solr / Lucene environments.
- Collaborate with Voyager’s internal development team and NGA’s system integrators to customize solutions for enterprise-scale geospatial data.
- Act as a technical advisor, assisting stakeholders with configuring and scaling the metadata governance solution.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to both analysts and senior leadership, including briefings on solution design, capabilities, and performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve search, indexing, and integration challenges in collaboration with onsite teams.
- Define and document requirements, workflows, and architectures to meet NGA’s operational goals.
- Identify and advocate for software enhancements to the Voyager core development team, particularly those involving geospatial data and Solr / Lucene optimizations.
- Develop technical demonstrations and proofs-of-concept showcasing Voyager’s geospatial search capabilities to stakeholders.
