Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Associate with a proven record of sustained laboratory achievement and innovation to join our Analytical Sciences Department.

The Analytical Sciences Sr. Research Associate will support the development, optimization, and validation of analytical methods for small molecule drug candidates. The successful candidate will provide lab support across various projects and teams and contribute to our shared mission of bringing new therapies to cancer patients.

This position reports to the Sr. Principal Scientist of Analytical Sciences and will be responsible for:

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, and implement analytical methods for small molecules using techniques (such as HPLC, UPLC, LC-MS, GC, KF, Dissolution, UV-Vis, etc.) and perform sample analysis using general laboratory techniques, such as weighing, pipetting, and sample preparation. Utilize available software to control instruments, collect data, process and calculate results, and prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Execute analysis with a solid understanding of the test procedures, underlying science and proper instrument operation, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
  • Maintain precise, detailed, accurate, and comprehensive records of all analyses in a lab notebook, ensuring compliance with company standards and ensuring traceability and consistency in data reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Process Chemistry, Formulation Development, and Analytical Sciences, to ensure timely and accurate data generation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve analytical issues as they arise, ensuring consistency and reliability of data.
  • Prepare test solutions, reagents, and samples required for analysis, ensuring accuracy and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Prepare presentation materials and clearly communicate research results to manager, and at internal/external meetings.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and new analytical techniques to enhance the development process.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field.
  • Experience: At least 4 years of hands-on experience in an analytical laboratory environment with a focus on small molecule analysis for candidates with a B.Sc., or 2 years for those with an M.Sc.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory techniques, including chromatography (e.g., HPLC, GC, LC/MS), spectroscopy (e.g., UV-Vis, FTIR), titration methods (e.g., Karl Fischer, acid-base), dissolution testing, particle size analysis (by laser diffraction), microscopy, and other compendial methods.
  • Experience using laboratory software to collect, analyze, and report data. This might include instrument control software (Chemstation, Empower, etc.) or data analysis programs like Excel or others.
  • Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and relevant regulatory requirements (FDA, ICH).
  • Experience with analytical method development, implementation, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Exceptional safety and organizational skills and attention to detail when handling samples, recording data, and preparing reports.
  • A proven record of sustained laboratory achievement and innovation.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and efficiently in a collaborative, fast-paced, integrated, multidisciplinary team environment.

Additional Information

The anticipated hourly pay range for candidates based in South San Francisco is between $45-$55/Hour The final pay rate offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the title, type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc.
