We are excited to announce an opportunity at Orica for a Trainer, within our Orica Specialty Mining Chemicals team.
The Solids Plant Operations Trainer (Temporary) will utilize their solids plant knowledge and experience to help develop other Solids Plant Operations personnel. This role is dedicated to performing operations training in the Solids Plant.
What you will be doing
Aligns all behaviours with Orica’s Charter Values, Purpose and Strategy.
Safety, Health and Environment (SH&E):
- Complete job cycle checks (JCCs).
- Complete Safety Leadership Interactions (SLIs).
Training Planning and Coordination:
- Perform field training for Solids Plant Operations personnel.
- Perform basic competency reviews of employees in the Operations Department.
- Complete training records for all phases of Solids Plant Operator training.
Procedure Development and Maintenance:
- Update Solids Plant Operations’ Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Work Practices (WP) and Operating checklists.
- Update Solids Plant operations training assessment documentation (QSCs).
Continuous Improvement:
- Participate in identifying solids plant process improvements and update operating procedures and training as required.
What you will bring
- 5 years of experience at the Winnemucca plant..
- Experience in the Solids Plant (Winnemucca plant).
- Experience as a Solids Plant Control Board Operator.
- Strong analytical abilities, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving skills; able to think analytically and strategically, act tactically, and embrace rapid change and ambiguity.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with a proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with other employees.
- The ability to read / interpret and train other personnel to perform tasks associated with the solids Operation’s Department Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Practices (WP) and Operating checklists.
- The ability to complete required training documentation.
- Ability to conduct training with small groups of up to six personnel.
- Ability to work within and support Orica’s Core Values.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office programs to perform word processing / document management, develop and update PowerPoint presentations and enter and manipulate simple data in basic Excel spreadsheets.

Operating Environment
Cyanco’s Winnemucca operation is comprised of two NaCN solutions plants and one NaCN solids plant. This role reports to the Product Line Manager – Sodium Cyanide. The Solids Plant Operations Trainer – Temporary works collaboratively with the site leadership and departmental work groups to support and complement the safe production of sodium cyanide solids.
