About The Role – Underground Mining Mechanical Technician – Fly In/Fly Out (Alaska)
The Mechanical Technician – Underground acts as a technical specialist providing underground technical expertise on bulk systems, products, and services to the customer in a safe and environmentally conscious manner.
The position will be on a rotation schedule. You will fly in, fly out of Fairbanks, AK and stay at the customer camp site. The schedule will be 14 days on, and 14 days off. During your workdays, you can expect to work 12-hour shifts. We are open to anyone located in the United States, who is willing to work a Fly In/Fly Out schedule.
What you will be doing
• Ensures the safety and protection of fellow employees, customers, the public and the environment. • Delivers the operational services to the volume, service type and quality specified by client expectations. • Liaison with client regarding planned blasts and product requirements. • Provides technical expertise on products, loading and blast patterns, where applicable. • Manages explosive magazines and bulk products. • Leads team while managing a shot in regard to direction and safety. • Take responsibility for the safety of any person entering a designated work area of a blast. Whether it is Orica personnel or Mine personnel.
Work Schedule
• Schedule: 14 days on/14 days off (Fly In/Fly Out – 12-hour shifts (Overtime paid after 40 hours worked in a week). • Fly into Fairbanks, Alaska and stay at the customer camp site during the work shifts.
What you will bring
• Blasting experience in underground mining. • Degree or Diploma in Engineering (mining, Civil) is similar is desired, but not required.• Must be comfortable with confined spaces.• Previous Safety Training is a plus. • Well-developed troubleshooting/problem solving capabilities. • Well-developed interpersonal skills.• Mechanical knowledge along with hydraulics is an asset.• Solid Project management skills.

Compensation Range
• $38.00 - $44.00 per hour
(Salary to be determined by the applicant’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
