Patient Service Specialist:
A Patient Service Specialist is an individual committed to ensuring a friendly and helpful environment to clients and colleagues who visit our clinic or call on the telephone.
Hours:
Monday through Thursday 7:30am - 4:30am; Friday 7:30am - 3:30pm
Responsibilities:
Patient Resource – Ability to navigate the electronic medical record to direct, educate, and assist the patient in the next step of their care.
Patient advocate - facilitate effective relay of information between patient, care team and provider within our office and with outside offices, both during and after the office visit, to achieve the best possible outcome for the patient.
Ensure all patient concerns and questions are addressed in a timely fashion in a congenial, pleasant, and helpful manner.
Duties to include but not limited to:
Greet all patients in a friendly and professional manner, answering incoming calls, scheduling new and follow-up patients appointments.
Maintain provider schedules including accurately scheduling patients and filling canceled appointments.
Collect co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay amounts from patients and accurately record information on receipts and encounter forms.
Perform all daily opening/closing duties including shutting down computers, locking up all monies collected, complete batching of super bills at the close of the day, and maintaining a clean front desk work area.
Faxing of reports and referrals to patients or outside providers.
Verify insurance benefit eligibility/network status and any copay/coinsurance.
Prepare patient paperwork and consent forms.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information
Able to evaluate problematic situations, develop solutions and collaborate with providers to achieve the best possible outcome for the patient
Knowledge of Microsoft Office software
Prior experience in a medical office setting and clinical knowledge is a plus but not required
Physical Demands:
Sitting, walking, and standing
Use of computer, telephone, copier/scanner
Must be able to work in an open room with moderate noise level
Salary: $17-$20/hour based on experience
