We are seeking an experienced Lead Chocolatier to join our growing team and help elevate our chocolate production to world-class standards. This role combines technical expertise in chocolate production with creative product development skills and operational management capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Development & Quality
- Lead the innovation of new chocolate products while maintaining and improving existing recipes
- Establish and maintain rigorous quality standards for all chocolate production
- Conduct sensory analysis and taste testing to ensure exceptional product quality
- Develop and document standard operating procedures for consistent production
Production & Operations
- Oversee daily chocolate production activities, including tempering and molding
- Train and supervise production staff in proper chocolate-making techniques
- Evaluate and recommend new equipment and technologies to improve production efficiency
- Implement and maintain proper chocolate storage and handling procedures
Technical Expertise
- Manage chocolate tempering processes and equipment
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement solutions
- Work with suppliers to source the finest ingredients
- Stay current with industry trends and innovations in chocolate production
Business Growth
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to develop new product concepts
- Provide expert input for packaging selection and design
- Assist with nutritional analysis and labeling requirements
- Support scaling of production while maintaining quality standards
Qualifications:
Required
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in chocolate production
- Demonstrated expertise in chocolate tempering and working with couverture
- Strong knowledge of ingredient selection and formulation
- Experience with production equipment selection, implementation, and maintenance
- Understanding of food safety regulations and quality control procedures
Preferred
- Formal culinary training or certification in chocolate making
- Experience scaling production in a growing company
- Knowledge of nutrition labeling and requirements
- Background in developing standard operating procedures
- Experience managing a production team
