Job Overview:
We are seeking a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS) or Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) to fill the position of Recovery Court Counselor in Alamance County. LCSW or LCMHC will also be considered with relevant experience and training. The individual in this role will work directly with individuals mandated by the court to participate in a drug or alcohol recovery program. The primary responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, providing individual and group counseling sessions, monitoring client progress, and advocating for clients within the court system to ensure compliance with recovery goals and court orders. This position entails supervising a full-time QP case manager and collaborating with Alamance County stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Intake and Clinical Assessment:
- Gathers information for intake regarding client’s background, including their mental health history, current concerns, and goals for treatment/therapy. Determine eligibility for participation in the recovery program and identify treatment needs.
- Conduct Comprehensive Clinical Assessments with individuals referred to recovery court, evaluating substance use history, criminal history, mental health needs, and social support systems.
- Treatment Plan Development:
- Create individualized treatment plan based on assessment findings, setting goals, interventions, and milestones for each participant. Manage progress updates in treatment planning.
- Evaluate and document client progress to determine additional service needs, transition of services, case management needs, and step-down/discharge planning.
- Group and Individual Counseling:
- Provide evidence-based substance abuse therapy in individual and group formats focused on addiction issues, relapse prevention strategies, coping mechanisms, and life skills development.
- Facilitate SAIOP model substance abuse therapy group sessions 3-5x weekly, collaborating with QP Case Manager.
- Monitor and document client progress within accurate and timely documentation utilizing EMR.
- Case Management Supervision:
- Supervise a full-time QP case manager, ensuring they track client attendance, assist in conducting informed & efficient group sessions, maintain accurate documentation, and coordinate with other service providers involved in the client’s care.
- Court Appearances:
- Attend regular court hearings to provide updates on client progress, advocate for continued participation in the recovery court, and address any concerns raised by the judge/legal entities.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Licensure:
- Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS) OR Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC); LCMHC and LCSW will be considered with the requisite experience working with the population. Associate Licenses may also be considered.
- Current unrestricted licensure or certification in North Carolina.
- Experience:
- At least 3 years of direct experience working with individuals with substance use disorders, preferably within the justice system population or adjacent fields.
- Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system and court procedures.
- Skills:
o Clinical Skills: Proficiency in conducting assessments, creating treatment plans, and providing individual and group counseling, particularly for individuals with substance use disorders.
o Case Management: Ability to manage client cases, track progress, and coordinate services with other providers or agencies.
o Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System: Understanding court procedures and the legal aspects of working with clients mandated for recovery programs.
o Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication abilities to effectively work with clients, families, court personnel, and community stakeholders.
o Supervisory Skills: Experience in supervising and mentoring a team, such as managing a QP case manager.
o Relapse Prevention: Knowledge of strategies for identifying triggers and addressing potential relapse situations.
o Collaboration: Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders, such as probation officers, treatment providers, and social service organizations.
o Crisis Management: Capability to intervene and provide support during times of crisis or relapse.
o Cultural Competence: Sensitivity and awareness in working with clients from diverse backgrounds.
o Documentation and Record Keeping: Ability to maintain accurate records and document treatment progress in compliance with legal and ethical standards.

Pay: $51,000.00 - $54,000.00 per year
