INTERN
Essential Functions:
- Works under the direction of the assigned Director or Discipline Manager.
- Bring your passion for engineering to our office every day.
- Develop a knowledge of industry-related standards relating to BIM/CAD scope delivery.
Assists and supports at an administrative level with project management, program organizational and administrative activities (document management, project reports, meeting minutes, annotations, etc.) - May aid in the implementation of supporting software for BIM/CAD, including methods for facilitating the transfer of drawings, field notes, mark-ups and peer review comments between the office and job sites.
- Shadow Orion discipline engineers and designers to develop an understanding of design methods.
- Ensures job tasks and obligations are completed.
- Responsible for effective execution of discipline design services on an assigned project in accordance with Orion Department Procedures.
- May participate in on-the-job training programs, as assigned.
Drafting and developing design of drawings. - Assist with design specifications.
- Develop system layouts.
Develop calculations in support of system design. - Proper use / application of CADD borders, both Orion standard borders and client standards.
- Introductory modeling, coordination, and drafting of assigned projects.
Conduct all work activities in compliance with safety policies & procedures. - Performs other related duties as assigned.
Position Working Hours and Schedule:
- Student Interns will not normally be requested or allowed to work more than 29 hours per week; however, they may work up to 40 hours per week during summer, holiday, and semester breaks.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Autonomous attitude – ability to contribute individually to the greater goal
Working knowledge and experience with AutoCAD or equivalent. - Ability to work independently and with a team.
- Participate and contribute as a team member for assigned projects and job tasks.
- Proficient with MS Office suite with an emphasis on Excel.
- Ability to read and understand policies, procedures, and processes.
- Organized, goal driven and self-motivated.
- Commitment to high quality.
- Must be prompt, dependable, and have a good attendance record.
- Must be able to pass an approved background check if required.
- Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test.
Education Requirements: Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master of Science Degree in related field. Enrollment as a full or part-time degree-seeking student in a post-secondary educational institution.
