Orion Family Services, an innovative outpatient and community mental health agency, is a growing organization that is looking to add a dedicated Child and Family Support Specialist to our team. We are a licensed outpatient mental health and AODA clinic. Our main office is located on the west side of Madison with satellite offices on the east side and in Monroe. Orion Family Services provides an array of outpatient, AODA and community-based services throughout southern Wisconsin.
A Child and Family Support Specialist at Orion Family Services works in conjunction with a team of field workers, and child protective service staff at local county departments. A Family and Child Support Specialist will work with at risk youth providing short-term respite, individual skill development, parent support and crisis support. As a not-for-profit agency, our mission is to promote well-being through compassionate mental health and community services. Primary Job Responsibilities
- Plans, implements, and conducts all client care services in conjunction with the supervisor and program requirements
- Available to work a variety of hours and strong ability to be flexible with changes in scheduling
- Reviews, establishes, and maintains client care protocol and standards, ensuring that all State policies, regulations, and guidelines for client care are met
- Participates in staff, program and clinical educational and in-service activities. This includes attendance at team meetings for clients and appropriate consultation and supervision meetings within the agency
- Recommends and participates in the development of agency policies and procedures
- Represents the agency to various government agencies, funding agencies, and/or the public/local community
- Completes required documentation according to established time frames
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree in a social work, human services, or related field
- Experience working with children and their families with mental health needs
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
- Must pass WI Caregiver background check
- Valid driver’s license, insurance, and good driving record
- Strong interpersonal and community relations skills
- Strong ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community
- Understanding of confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
- Ability to work independently and engage in ethical decision-making
- Position will start part-time hourly but will increase to a full-time position within six months of hire as the case load grows.
- Position is appointment based, with hours typically between 10am – 8pm Monday – Friday.
- This does require working one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday) a month.
