What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Engineer position at Orion Group?
We have an opportunity for a project engineer to work on engineering projects on the North Slope of Alaska. The successful candidate can be based anywhere in the US and will work three weeks in Anchorage and three weeks from their home/remote. 40 hours per week, flights and lodging provided by the client. The client will also pay for successful candidate to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) license for the State of Alaska.
Duties:
- Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities and scope of authority.
- Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
- Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modify schedules or plans as required.
- Prepares project reports for management, client or others.
- Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
- Plans, investigates, and surveys structures and equipment to determine feasibility and options.
- Directs construction and maintenance activities at project site, including supervision of design personnel (i.e., engineers, designers, draftsmen) and subcontract personnel assigned to the project.
- Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
- Manages contractual commitments for contractors including costs, quality, schedule, and field activities.
- Maintains quality of work in accordance with the standards specified in the design documents.
- Ensures construction materials are tested to meet quality assurance requirements of the design.
- Maintains effective communications and coordination between the client and the design engineer to ensure timeliness and accuracy.
- Inspects construction site to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant engineering field from an accredited institution,
- Minimum two (2) years project engineering experience.
- Prior experience with arctic North Slope construction activities.
Salary : $50 - $75
