What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Support Engineer position at Orion Group?
This position will provide engineering support of Project Managers who execute natural gas pipeline expansion and maintenance CAPEX throughout the western US.
This is a long-term contract position based in the office in Colorado Springs 3 days per week, 2 days remote. There is no relocation offered, anyone outside of Colorado Springs would need to relocate on their own for this position. $50-$80/hour, health, dental, vision insurance and a 401k are offered.
General Description
Provide pro-active technical support and engineering assistance to a group of Project Managers executing capital and sustaining projects throughout the western USA. Projects to be supported include:
- New pipe and facility construction
- Hydrostatic testing
- Pipe replacement
- MLV installation
- Pipe and facility modification
Detailed Description (including, but not limited to)
Initial development and ongoing refinement of a detailed project plan from estimate to handoff to Project Manager for execution including:
Scope development and refinement
- Design requirements
- Sketches
- KMZ’s
- Initial hydrostatic test plan
- Drawdown/blowdown planning
- Temporary gas supply planning
Baseline schedule development
Develop, compile, consolidate, and document project specific data and decisions for and from the following support groups.
- Estimating
- ROW
- Permitting
- Regulatory
- Construction Management
- Risk/Pipeline Integrity
- Operations
Support of the project following handoff to project manager examples include:
- Continued maintenance of the project plan to include data and documentation developed during project execution. Including integration into PMO (Project Management Office)
- Initiation of project with ROW, Regulatory, and Permitting (EMOC)
- Generation of material take off (MTO) and development of supplier quotes for small orders.
- Expedite key material orders for supported projects.
Development and entry of hydrostatic testing plan for PM approval
- Entry of test actuals into records system and PMO
- Entry of water usage into ESG tracking system
Assessment and execution of material sampling requirements during construction
Development and submission of project blowdown/evacuation plan
In conjunction with Construction Management, organizing, executing, and maintenance of project inspector PO’s
Organizing, executing, and maintenance of project inspector PO’s
Organizing, executing, and execution of NDT audit, including PO’s
Organizing, executing, and execution of PER’s (Pipeline Examination Report) including PO’s as required
Organizing, executing, and execution of pipeline evacuation, including PO’s
Organizing, executing, and execution of temporary gas, including PO’s
Development of project excavation plan
Organizing, executing, and execution of project surveys, including PO’s
Pro-active audit of project closeout documentation and integration into PMO
Miscellaneous engineering calculations as required by Project Manager
- Material spec to MAOP verification
- Line crossing load calculations
Coordinate post construction follow up actions
- FERC blanket/prior authorization closure (reclamation pictures)
Further development and refinement of support engineer processes and procedures.
Qualifications:
BS in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or Petroleum engineering from an accredited university in the US
Experience: 2-10 yr of oil and gas experience, preferably in midstream. Experience with NG pipelines is preferred.
Salary : $50 - $80
